What is the Richest Bitcoin Address?

Summary
- The richest non-exchange Bitcoin address currently holds over 101,000 Bitcoin (worth over $700,000,000)
- The address holds 0.55% of all of the current Bitcoin in circulation
With one Bitcoin worth over $7,000, many wonder, what is the richest Bitcoin address?
An anonymous holder claims the spot of the most valuable Bitcoin address, holding over 100,000 Bitcoin, worth $700,000,000 at the time of the article.
Upon a first look, it may seem that address “35hK24tcLEWcgNA4JxpvbkNkoAcDGqQPsP” is the richest Bitcoin address. However, that Bitcoin address belongs to cryptocurrency exchange giant Huobi. Every major cryptocurrency exchange has both hot wallets and cold wallets. Cold wallets act as secure long term storage for the exchange and thus hold a large portion of the funds on the exchange.
As a result, we have excluded address #1 and #2 from the analysis.
Therefore, the Bitcoin address “3KZ526NxCVXbKwwP66RgM3pte6zW4gY1tD” takes the trophy as the richest Bitcoin address. The address currently holds 101,857 Bitcoin, approximately 0.55% of the total Bitcoin supply.
Furthermore, upon taking a closer look at the address, all of the funds in the address appeared in the last two weeks. What’s more, is that the last few weeks have seen an influx in Bitcoin whales, with the number of Bitcoin Whales reaching a 2 year high. This influx of whales is replicating the accumulation stage just prior to the 2016 Bitcoin halving. It is unclear whether the owner of the address is accumulating Bitcoin or simply transferring and consolidating from another source.
Who Has the Most Bitcoin?
Although we can determine the single richest Bitcoin address, it is impossible to determine the individual with the most Bitcoin.
Firstly, many large investors, or whales, diversify their holdings into several smaller addresses. As a result, it is virtually impossible to determine the combined sum of Bitcoin they are holding.
Secondly, due to the nature of blockchain, cryptocurrency addresses are difficult to trace back to a real identity. Anyone can create a Bitcoin address without any personal information.
