- Bitcoin halving Google searches about to reach all-time high
According to Google, searches for “Bitcoin Halving” are nearing an all-time high. 2016 experienced the greatest volume of searches as Bitcoin neared a halving.
With the next Bitcoin halving less than 30 days away, interest for the event is accumulating at an unprecedented pace.
The last Bitcoin halving occurred in 2016 when the Bitcoin block reward halved from 25 Bitcoin to 12.5 Bitcoin. Even then, the event was widely covered by major media outlets like Yahoo Finance. We expect that the halving will generate far greater interest this time around as Bitcoin has developed lots of interest since its 2017 run-up.
Furthermore, the interest in the halving is rapidly increasing even though the halving is about a month away. The massive momentum furthers the fact that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are slowly inching towards mainstream adoption.
As a result, we expect to see Bitcoin halving interest to surpass the 2016 high as we near the halving.
Why is This Significant?
Although the spike in searches is no surprise, the volume of searches a month away from the halving is far greater than the 2016 halving. This is attributable to Bitcoin gaining a larger presence as it made many headlines during its 2017 rally.
The greater volume of searches this time around shows that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as a whole are seeing greater adoption and awareness.
